One year!

Happy one year to the most amazing husband in the world!!
It's gone by so fast and I've enjoyed every second of it.
I'm so blessed to have Chris in my life,
he's the most kind, patient, selfless
person I know.

Not to mention the cutest :)
How did I get so lucky?
Though we didn't get to celebrate exactly how we had
originally planned, we were still able to do some fun things.
Chris has recently gotten into tennis and I'd always
refused to play with him
cause I'm a racquetball player at heart.
Since there's few racquetball courts around here, I
decided that for our anniversary,
I bought myself a racket, skirt, and some tennis balls,
as well as gave Chris a coupon for a new racket of his choice.
Though I was kind of a whiner because it was hot
and I thought I was going to die,
Chris had a blast playing and teaching me.

Then we went to one of our favorite lunch places,
Pei Wei!
We love it because it's comparable to
PF Changs in deliciousness but way less expensive.

The lettuce wraps are one of my favorite things eeevvvver.
After that, we spent the day wandering around some stores.
Chris was in heaven when I said that we could go
walk around Home Depot "for fun".
We probably spent an hour looking at tools, refrigerators, and countertops.
I'm always glad to make my husband happy :)

After that, we went to try out a new restaraunt, Charlestons.
When the hostess showed us to our table, there were
flowers and a sweet letter waiting for me :)
Chris thinks of everything :)

So romantic and delicious!!
Thanks you, Chris, for making this past year the happiest
of my life!

Miscellaneous August

I haven't posted in a while, so here are some random pictures
of what we've been up to in the last month.

Temple date!
I love going on dates with Christopher,
and temple dates are one of my favorites :)

We were bored one night and remembered
that we got a tent for our wedding and had never set it up.

It took up our whole living room,
but it was a fun activity.
We opened up the door and watched the
finale of Food Network Star!
(one of our favorite shows)
So fun :)

I opened up my fruit snacks the other day
and this is what came out.
I thought it was pretty awesome.

My cute friend Shally is having a baby!!
We had her shower last week,
I am so so excited for her.
Me, Susan, and Shally all moved here at
the same time from BYU-Idaho.
Shally's the first to be prego and we're all living
vicariously through her.
Can't wait to meet baby Jaylynn!! (or Emery)

Nothin like baby shower games...
Guessing which chocolate bar is melted in the diaper.

Not too much news for not having posted in over a month...

Fireworks, Fusion, and Forehead kisses

4th of July is such a happy holiday.
We started out the evening with a barbeque at our friend's house
that was delicious!  Chris and I are dying to get a grill...
and a backyard to put it in.
We're both obsessed with barbeque, it makes everything taste so much better

It's always so much fun to get together with friends!
Then we scouted out a nice patch of grass to watch
the fireworks at as we got eaten alive by bugs.
We tried really hard to get a cute picture watching the fireworks
but apparently, iPhones have the brightest flash EVER,
and this is the gem we ended up with...

Yes, yes, I know, we're pretty dang cute hahaha.
We tried again and it turned out slightly better, but Chris's
cute little eyes just couldn't handle the light.

Apart from the spider bite that made my toe swell
up like a balloon, the night turned out super fun!

In other news, I had to say goodbye to my baby last week.
Yes, we sold my Bug :(
It was getting a little too old and starting to have problems,
so we decided to upgrade.
That little car was so good to me, I'll miss it!
But I absolutely LOVE my new car,
a Ford Fusion.
It was Chris's pick from the beginning, and after doing soooo much research,
I agreed with him that it was a good choice.
We FINALLY picked it up the other day
(who knew that car loans are such a hassle, it was a nightmare)

We're already fighting over who gets to drive it to work,
but Chris knows whose car it REALLY is :)

Last night, well...this morning,
as Chris and I went to bed, I went to give him
a kiss on the forehead, only to hear,
"no no no, right here"
pointing to a different area of the forehead.
I was like...okay...ha and kissed him there.
Then he said, "no no, press harder"
What?
He then proceeded to demonstrate the correct way
to give a good forehead kiss.
He told me to pay attention to the "timing, location, and pressure"
What a nerd.
Who knew that our whole time together he was putting
up with such bad technique.
He gets in the gooofiest moods when he's tired
and says the funniest things, I love it haha.

He's pretty dang sweet, the other day I came home
from a long day at work to be greeted with the yummiest crepes!

So yummy.
We also made a pretty delicious dessert the other  night.
Banana cream scrumptious stuff!
Ha I don't know what it's called, gotta love Pinterest for giving
us good ideas for food.

I was so excited when I found those cute little dishes at Wal-Mart.
Mm so tasty!!

Oh!  I almost forgot- I had one of my  most embarrassing moments last night.
Chris was working and I had the night off,
so he naturally begged me to let him take the new car to work.
I agreed, which meant that I had to drive his
car to a dinner I was going to with some coworkers.
I've only ever driven his car a couple of times.
I'm pretty challenged when it comes to cars that I'm not familiar with.
And of course, it was raining and dark when I got in.
So I was struggling to figure out how to use the windshield wipers
and how to turn on the headlights.
I was pretty sure I got it all figured out,
and as I tried to navigate my way home from the restaurant
(I don't drive downtown very often)
I got a bright flash in my eyes.
When it turned off, I noticed it was a cop car...
He then started following me and turned on his lights to pull me over.
Ah!  I've never been pulled over in my life.
Needless to say, I was freaking out.
The young cop asked me for my license and registration
and I just squealed that I was sorry and that it was my husband's
car and I didn't know where anything was.
I asked shyly..."were my lights not on?"
And he said "you got it!"
Uggghhhhhh SO embarrassing, he had to show me how to turn them on,
I felt so stupid.  I was used to my dim as heck headlights
in my old bug that I thought the actual headlights were the brights.
He just laughed at me and told me to drive safe.
I must've looked sooooo dumb.
Psh, oh well, I'm glad it happened on a little road
before I had gotten on the freeway at least.
After I got over the initial scare,
I laughed at myself the rest of the way home.

Fireflies

Chris hasn't been able to sleep lately,
he'll wake up super early and can't fall back asleep.
He's been so sweet and letting me sleep in,
even though he HATES being awake while I'm asleep, cause he gets bored.
So last night I woke up and realized that he was nowhere to be found.
I texted him asking where he was and he said,
"I'm watching fireflies at the park, come join me :)"
What the?  Most random and romantic thing ever!
Neither of us had ever seen any,
so I quickly hopped in my car and headed to the park
to find him on a bench.
We spent a little while quietly watching the cute fireflies,
they are magical!!
Unfortunately I got there right as it was winding down,
but it was the coolest thing I've ever seen.
Here's a tiny morsel-

K, I don't know if that worked, I've never uploaded a video.
Also while I was asleep, Chris went by himself
to Bed,Bath, and Beyond to buy us
some little dishes to make pazookies!!
We're huge fans of BJ's yuuummmy pazookies and
wanted to try making them at home!
Our cookie dough didn't turn out the best,
but paired with ice cream, it ended up being pretty tasty!

Oh, have you ever heard of the movie, We Bought a Zoo?
I'd seen previews and thought it'd be the cheesiest movie.
But Chris really wanted to rent it, for whatever reason,
and it turned out to be so good!
It really wasn't cheesey, kiddy, at all, I was so surprised.
I definitely recommend it, haha.
We decided that we want to have a curly red-headed girl,
the girl in the movie is so stinkin cute.
Here she is-

Speaking of cute, I was playing around with my Instagram the other day,
and can I just say that I have the most adorable husband in the world???
He obviously doesn't get too into "posing for pictures"
but he puts up with me :)

I am one lucky girl :)

Tears of Laughter

Yesterday Chris and I were reminiscing about some funny moments
from our dating and early married times.
It started with me pointing out that I've only seen him cry twice-
once when he proposed and the other when we got married :)
He says that he was just nervous and his voice was shaking
when he sang me my song the day he proposed,
but I know the truth-there were legitimate tears :)
That got us talking about my emotional side...
I always told him when we were dating that I never cried,
which was true, I was never a cry-er...until late college haha.
He reminded me about the time I had his whole birthday planned out
with doing fun activities and finishing the day making him a nice meal,
which is a very rare occurrence.
I ended up getting really sick that day and trying SO hard to cook.
He came over and saw me bending over at the stove trying
not to throw up.  He was so sweet and took me to the couch,
turned on the TV, put a blanket over me, and told me he would finish dinner.
When he looked back over at me, I was bawling on the couch.
I felt so bad that he had to make his own birthday dinner.
He told me last night how he was so confused
and how he felt like he just made things worse,
when really, I was just an emotional wreck cause I really wanted to impress him
and epically failed!
Since being married, I've had my fair share of emotional days.
The main thing that makes me really stressed and insecure
is...of course....cooking.
It's such a dumb thing to get so worked up about, and I've gotten better,
but when we first got married, it was awful.
I felt like now that I was married, I needed to all of a sudden
be a fantastic cook and take care of my hubby,
but it did NOT come that easily.
Chris said that funniest emotional breakdown I had was when I had
planned to make his favorite meal that he gets from Cheesecake Factory
(and it's kind of a complicated recipe but I was excited to try)
I got all the ingredients from the store and that night
was about to get cookin!
Then I realized that one of the most important ingredients, mozarella cheese,
was not in the fridge.  I thought I had some and didn't buy any.
My emotions were all out of whack from stupid birth control
anyways, but this threw everything over the edge.
Chris looked over from the living room and didn't see me in the kitchen anymore.
Cause I was on the kitchen floor....in the fetal position, CRYING
because I didn't have  mozarella cheese.
He had to come over and console me and tell me it'd be ok cause we had string cheese.
That wasn't good enough for me, I had ruined our special meal.
Again, Chris was at a loss for how to deal with his crazy irrational wife haha.
Anyways, talking about all of that last night I was in tears, but this time
cause I was laughing so hard.
I love that we can look back at things like that and make fun of
how ridiculous it was.

On a complete side note, I've decided I am pretty much a vampire zombie.
You know things are bad when you lay out by the pool for 30 minutes.....
at nine oh clock in the morning....when it's cool and overcast...
and you come home with DISTINCT tan lines.
I am almost transparent, but hopefully
I'll be able to adjust my schedule more this summer
so I can take some time and be out in the sunlight like normal human beings.

Something amazing happened the other day.
Chris and I went for a run,
which, yes, is amazing in and of itself.
We are not athletes...
Well, we both play racquetball but
as there are hardly ANY courts here,
we haven't played in forever.
So we're trying to get in better shape
and I convinced Chris that we should go
to the park for a jog.
It was obvioiusly an inspired decision because
when we got there, we noticed it was
full of huge trucks and trailors.
We went up to someone and asked what
was going on and found out that they
were having a massive BBQ competition!
And that we could walk around
and sample everyone's food!
Um, yes please!
I was soooo excited, it was the funnest thing.
There were so many different booths
with authentic, delicious
southern barbeque.

Delicious!
(Pardon how sickly we look, we hadn't seen the sun
in a while)

Chris loved the car show

This park is one of our new favorite places :)  So pretty!

We also went to the OkC zoo recently,
which was pretty fun, except
for the fact that we got there
like 45 minutes before it was closing.
We had to speedwalk around the whole park,
and a lot of the animals were already
put away for feeding haha.
But the things that we did see were pretty cool!

This was my favorite part, this
cute little guy was just walking around!
So fun.
I'm hoping we can keep doing some
fun things during the day now that it's warm,
our skin is dying for some sunlight!!

Day Off!

I cherish the days that Chris and I have off of work together,
especially now that he's working a lot of overtime
to get enough hours for PA schools.
Tonight was especially fantastic since we both had
pretty rough weeks at work.
Yesterday was a very busy and draining day
in good ol' labor and delivery.
Chris started off the evening by waking up and going
out with the missionaries, meaning that
I got to sleep in :)
Thank goodness, because I've been developing a cold.
After watching The Vow (finally!) while Chris
took a nap (he said he would throw up if he watched it),
I woke up my sleepy hubby and we had some fun in the kitchen!
If you know me at all, you know that I am NOT a good cook,
neither do I enjoy it very much.
It just takes up so much thought and time,
plus I get very frustrated if it doesn't turn out as good as I want.
However, when I get to cook with Chris,
it's one of my favorite things!
We have so much fun trying out new things,
and it's a good way to spend time together.
We talk, laugh, sing, and dance around.
LOVE it!
We started off with potstickers as our appetizer,
then tried out a new recipe I found
for chicken parmesan burgers.
I hate spaghetti more than any food in the world,
so Chris sadly has never gotten to eat
the real chicken parmesan in this household.
It was a good compromise to have
all the flavory goodness of the dish on a bun instead of spaghetti.

As we ate, we watched the show we've been waiting for,
Next Food Network Star!
We're food network junkies.
It inspires me to want to cook better haha.
Next we had some fun learning a new song
to sing and play on guitar.
Chris's musical ability always amazes me,
he can hear a song one time
then just start playing away perfectly.
Now currently, he is quizzing me on bands
that I've never heard of
and, as usual, being disappointed
in my lack of musical knowledge.
Oh well, I'm slowly learning!
So all in all, a great night with my best friend :)
